Welcome Home, Kyler

Kyler got to come home when on his fourth day of life. Brett and I were ready to move out of the hospital and get home. I had cabin fever being stuck in the same room for three days. We were also ready to be home where there are no nurses waking Kyler or I up every few hours to get checked on or have a procedure done. The nurse we had the last morning at the hospital was great and got us out of there pretty quickly. I think we made it home by around 11:30 in the morning. Kyler fell asleep before we left the hospital and didn't wake up for a while after we were home. We thought it was pretty cute that when we pulled into the driveway and went to get him out of the car, Kyler was holding his pacifier in his hand.

When we got home, our two dogs, Maggie and Baxter, were very excited to see us all. We brought Kyler into the living room in his carrier and set it down so that the dogs could check him out. It was pretty amusing because Baxter was actually scared of him at first. Then Baxter thought the baby should be playing with him and tried to pull the hat off his head and play with his kicking feet. We have had to keep a good eye on Baxter since he is extremely interested in Kyler and wants to lick and touch him with his paws. It is all innocent but could obviously scratch our precious baby boy. Maggie is much better with Kyler and just occasionally gives him a sniff or lick but that is the extent of her interest.

Grandpa Charlie came over shortly after we got home to meet Kyler. Grandma Tammy had been staying at our house since Thursday and was a big help. Maggie and Baxter appreciated that they did not have to be locked up the whole time we were in the hospital. And Grandma also picked up some more diapers (because the little guy is too small for the newborn cloth diapers right now) and some warmer clothes (even though it is almost 90 degrees, Kyler is always cold and has not been able to regulate his temperature on his own yet).

A little later Kyler had some more visitors. Grandma Debbie came over with her sisters, Sherry and Sandy, and Great Grandma Rita.
